IGN thinks Dead Money is unforgivably buggy

Why is it that people seem to use "bug" as a synonym for "I'm too fucking stupid to understand the game mechanics and story" these days? I want to acquaint that IGN "editor's" balls with a cinder block.

Apparently she knew about the switch but didn't work anyway. Or maybe she is saying that just to cover her ass.

In any case, was the quest that failed a prerequisite for the other two? It might actually be a bug if it's not, but the statement is pretty ambiguous and I haven't read anything else about such an issue.

But that was always the best thing about console games, barely ever game breaking bugs.
Sure, I have run into a couple in some old games on the Megadrive or SNES but in general those games always worked well.

I think this guys confusion over a basic dialog mechanic is a good example of why so few reviewers thought New Vegas was better than 3, while nearly all of us do. No one wants to read dialog, nor do they appreciate good dialog anymore.

Reminds me of Beavis and Butthead when they'd have to read something. They'd stare at it for a while then say "uhh... words... words..." then do something else.

I looked online for help in forums, nothing, Bethsoft forums (officially) acknowledged the issue but offered no sollution, so I took someones advice and tried uninstalling and reinstalling, to no avail. I tried the 'dropping items' tactic; didn't work. I tried three different characters; nothing, uninstalled again, nothing, reinstalled, uninstalled again wen't there, it worked.

Interesting, a friend of mine also had problems with Fallout New Vegas but on the PC.
After he got the "The Courier who broke the casino" Achievement his copy suddenly quit and would not restart.

I tried to help him by giving him the contact info to Bethesda's technical services but that did little good.

He gave them all the details they needed, including computer config, DirectX version and so on, but they kept responding with advice that was of little use.
He made it clear to them that prior to this incident the game ran just fine but only now suddenly quit and that he had not changed the configuration data or anything.

In the end it was through another FNV player's online post that he realized that problem lie with the .Ini file, apparently some lines had been changed despite him not touching the file.

Even when he reinstalled the game this was not changed.

But how useless Bethesda's helpdesk is.

This dosen't surprise me. The fact it started was more of a curse than a blessing, the bi-hourly freezes were excruciating.

It reminded me of Bioshock. Which was a watered down version of System Shock 2.

So I guess this is just water.

You can switch back and forth between them all day. but some events only trigger with one of them active. my money is on the editor being rushed and starting over before she figured that out.

sounds like most complaints are from power gamers with no reading comprehension.

I like that it was more dialog heavy and, well, fuckin rpg-like.

As with all dlc, it sucks that you can't sell it back after you're done, but ive seen worse movies for more money and less time.

It was different, and if I had to put a score on it id probably agree.

Triggering Veronica's dialogue is a little weird - to do it, you have to talk to her about Elijah, in a dialogue tree you probably already went through, and then there will be a few new options. They can be accessed before doing Dead Money, but only if it is already downloaded. Or maybe it is added in the patch, I don't know.

What's aggravating is that Fallout 3 got the rave reviews it did when it was just as buggy if not more so than Dead Money. Game breaking, aggravating and annoying bugs. Also, FYI I haven't played Dead Money, just reading impressions and reviews about how buggy it is.

I watched a LP of Dead Money on Youtube and I didn't see the guy suffer that many bugs and he had a bazillion save files, but I guess I have to wait until it is available for pc to judge that, still I don't suffer that many bugs in my two new vegas playtroughs, only that quest in Camp Searchlight, I think one Trooper Ghoul feel through the map because I can't fin the last dogtag and the quest marker points me right in the middle of the town.

Yesterday I finished Dead Money after a very long play session. Not a single bug has been found. I really don't know where this should be "unforgivably buggy" - it just doesn't take you by the hand everywhere.
