Fallout 3 gets 5/5 from Blender

Musical magazine Blender has one page dedicated to games (the Game Guide), in which they give short notes and scores. Fallout 3 scores 5/5, despite the fact that it's not even gold yet.

You heard it here first: Fallout 3, so good it doesn't even need to be finished to warrant a 5/5 score.

    Thanks Silverslug.

People, before you start shouting, don't. The game (and movie and even music) reviews in these so called "fashion music" magazines ain't even worth a comment. They're more like a bad joke.

"Most rock journalism is people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, for people who can't read." -Frank Zappa

Edit: It caught my eye that according to them, game only comes for Xbox360 and PS3.... professional, dis is.

+1 to what Zeld said. Music magazines often add film and game reviews as an afterthought, and more often than not they really shouldn't.

I was doubting whether or not to mark this a review, but considering its dubious status decided not to.

    Still: it's funny.

Sadly, that is how it is now. There was a time when Blender was actually worthwhile to even look at.

Maybe they got Fallout 3 mixed up with Fall Out Boy. The mediocrity seems to match up rather well.

    Heh.

Their Asshole Physics, Meet Asshole A.I. is one of the funniest pieces ever. I hope to see similar funnies on Fallout 3 later on.

I just finished reading that. Somewhat entertaining until he starts to gross you out by being more of a homo than the bards he pokes fun of, in the first of the article. His idea of bards certainly wouldn't hold up in Bard's Tale.

Also, there is no "kill x# of rats" quest. You end up killing mountain lions instead. You also can't throw the Amulet of Kings down (without a mod). I'd expect nothing less from an a**hole though than for him to talk out of his a**.

No. If I accept the joke then I'd have to pay 20 kopeks (sp?) for it.

Hahaha, dude that's the funniest thing I have ever read. I was such an asshole in Oblivion. Everything about this article is true. The NPC cycles were absolute shit!

All of my characters were assholes. My first character was named Slutia Womana, my second character was Angrius Blackman. My current character is just named Stupid Asshole (don't worry, i dont take the game serously). My telekenisis skills are all the way up and I like to shove plates and bowls and spoons in to NPC's faces. They sure don't mind it. It's serously so funny just annoying the shit out of them. But in the end you're the one that gets annoyed because no matter how hard you try, nothing will ever happen.

I don't know what it is about the physics engines in modern games, but even in Half Life 2, the objects in the game world just fly around all crazy in ways that make no sense.

I prefer the older games where the shit just stayed put.

You mean you don't like it when you step on a cardboard box and die in Half-Life 2?

(lets just say I avoid those cardboard boxes like they are deadly traps whenever I see them now...)

Indeed, bad physics in games is far worse than static terrain. If you want to put litter in a game, fine, just don't apply physics to it so that I don't get stuck on it or have it shoot fifty feet from running into it. Physics in games are still in that "cool idea that doesn't work right" phase and though it may end up being pretty cool in games, I'm gonna have to deal with all the annoying crap in the mean time. Still, I think that AAA titles would get nailed for not having physics by journalists so it's a lose, lose situation.

What I probably hate most about physics is that it makes death animations boring and/or stupid for the most part. The only entertaining rag-doll deaths are when the physics freak out and the body does retarded stuff. Custom animated deaths are much more exciting because they are much more cinematic, the downside is that it takes time to build a good library of them while doing rag-doll is comparitively quick and easy.

I read some article a few years ago about a "physics card", it was apparently going be physics equivalent of the graphics card, and was going to be huge.

    Wonder what happened to that...

That company got bought by Nvidia who are attempting to make their normal graphics cards capable of those kinds of calculations.

Goddamn, that band is everything wrong with todays music. What's worse, whenever I go out to the city, there are 13 year old assholes that blare that crap on their speakers as if anyone cares about their music choice.

Anyway, that entire article is a joke.

In GTAIV Rockstar used Euphoria-engine, it makes most of the dead animations really satisfying (am i sick?). People wont just fly around when you drive over them, their bodies react in realistic way etc.
Once you've seen Euphoria, ragdoll feels like a joke.

Even still, the most satisfying death animations I have seen are in Fallout. I still remember when I was like 8 year old kid and my cousin let me play his Fallout. First time I shot someone with my shotgun at close range.... oh boy, that totally screwed my petty little mind.

I remember a few months ago when they posted a bad review for the new Black Crowes album, despite not being available to the press to listen to when the "reviewer" wrote that article, and the band's manager called the magazine out on their bullshit. I wouldn't trust them, or any of the lad mags, on anything they review. Just throwing that out.
