Fergie talks.. by Odin - 10:05 - Comment Me (14) - News Source: VoodooExtreme
While scouring the net for some ammo, erm...well not quite... I noticed that HomeLAN had done an interview with good old Fergie, and here's a reeeal goodie:
HomeLAN - You recently announced that you want to get Fallout 3 under development at some point. Have you thought at all about what the general gameplay design will be like for the sequel?

Feargus Urquhart - That's a tough question to answer without having a horde of screaming people at my door asking for my head. :) However, I can say what I've been saying for a while, which is that Fallout 3 will still feel and play a lot like the previous Fallouts. It will need to be a more modern game though in relation to how the game plays and the graphics engine involved. What I mean by that is that we will be using a 3D engine and there will most likely be a real-time combat mode. I know there are people out there that feel this ruins Fallout, but I think they will be surprised as to how well it works once they play it.
Holy CRAP! Real-Time, come on!

Back to the topic about Fallout: Brotherhood. Seems like they've taken it down while they "await further information regarding its release".

Hello from,

Thank you for contacting

Most of our information comes directly from the manufacturers. Screen shots, descriptions, and release dates are supplied to us from the manufacturer for our site. Otherwise, we would risk falsely advertising products if we were to try and use information from other sources. The item has currently been taken off the site while we await further information regarding its release. We apologize for our lack of information regarding your inquiry at this time.

If you require further assistance, we are available 7 days a week from 8 AM to Midnight EST.

But...wait? I thought you got your information direct from the "manufacturer". Better talk to Sierra "again". They might be upset you took down one of their upcoming titles! </SARCASM>

New Fallout Total Conversion by Odin - 15:01 - Comment Me (0) - News Source: B. Stienstra aka Snake-D
There's a new Fallout Tactics Total Conversion in the works, this one is called "Rules Of Engagement". The creators (B. Stienstra / W. Moes) have done the demo to it and here's some of the story for the TC:
The Total Convention for Fallout Tactics takes place just a few months after the original game ended. The campaign against the Robots have decreased Brotherhood troops. After several set-backs on several scout missions the Brotherhood is putting their new trained troops out in the wastelands to strike back at the ones responsable... Here is where your mission starts... Through out the campaign, the story developes & new key features are introduced.

The Total convention will feature new maps, new characters & new gameplay. We're focusing on making tactical gameplay a key feature... no more runnign around in open fields without the enemy spotting you, no more solo character actions... team work will be nessasary in completing your objectives !

The character storylines are much more related, characters in the game have a real relationship, we intend to give the Brotherhood Of Steel troops a much closer connection, so it will actually feels like a real Brotherhood.
Great stuff guys, hope you manage to get this TC done.

Harbringer gone gold! by Odin - 14:35 - Comment Me (0) - News Source: BluesNews
This isn't Fallout news, but I thought I'd post about it anyways since this is a game I'm looking forward to. Harbringer has gone gold, it's a RTS RPG set in a SciFi setting.
The skies darken as Harbinger enters a solar system, dwarfing planets and leaving devastation in its wake. Entire civilizations are cleansed, planets eliminated. The majority of the survivors fill the ship’s work camps. Those less fortunate are released to the laboratories where vicious experiments eventually rid them of their sanity. But a few have escaped and formed an underground society deep within the forgotten levels of the behemoth. Equipped only with what they can scavenge, the denizens of the wastelands must resist the relentless patrols sent for them. A ship this size has many places to hide and much technology to exploit.

The rest is up to you…
Remember to check out this game, when it comes out.

    S&M in FO2 ?! by Odin - 18:58 - Comment Me (2) - News Source: ViperMask
ViperMask informed me about another easter egg poster in Fallout 2, this one has the movie poster of a movie called Topazu (Tokyo Decadence). This movie has S&M elements in it and evidently someone in the Fallout 2 crew liked that (or the poster).
    Talk about subliminal messages..
    Thanks ViperMask!

FO Tool easter egg by Odin - 2:52 - Comment Me (2) - News Source: ViperMask/Jopezu
Jopezu and ViperMask both informed me about a new easter egg found in Fallout, it was Jopezu that noticed that one of the posters in Junktown was a picture of Maynard James Keenan from Tool/A Perfect Circle, check it out:
Well I for one haven't heard about this one before, and it shows the good taste the Fallout 1 crew have in music !

New Poll by Odin - 1:47 - Comment Me (0) - News Source:
Since alot of hosts are demanding ads and some popup ads, I wanted to get your opinions on this one: "Would popup ads be out of the question?" (here on NMA that is). It would include one popup ad an hour, but it could in turn help us here at NMA.

    Wasteland 2042 by Odin - 16:01 - Comment Me (0) - News Source: Bitterman
Bitterman emailed me that the Wasteland 2042 site is up and running, this is a mod for Battlefield 1942:
Monday, February 10th, after many months of hard work, and server complication, the Wasteland 2042 site launched.

For those not familiar with the project. Wasteland 2042 is a total conversion modification for the World War II game from Electronic Arts, Battlefield 1942. The setting is a Post Apocalyptic environment, in the year 2042:

"The 1980s began with the failure of a 46-cent computer chip causing the NORAD headquarters to mistakenly believe that they were under attack by Soviet missiles. Some 100 U.S. B-52s were sent into the sky, before the mistake was discovered. That was all it took, one moment, one mistake. Soon The U.S.S.R. retaliated with it's own nuclear arsenal. Countless land, sea, and air forces set into motion, prepared to defend their posts. ... If World War I was the war to end all wars, then World War III defied description."
Snazzy, remember to look out for this one. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Still hope for Static? by Odin - 8:21 - Comment Me (0) - News Source: Static
Kreegle got word that the Static pages had been updated with some new info, here's the deal:
Q: Where is the Pinbox Team and the status of STATIC?
A looooong time has passed since our last update, and we have had many ups and downs with the production of STATIC. As of last September 2002, the project has come to a full halt. Opportunities for publishing it have seemingly dried up, and a few of the members of the team have used this project to boost themselves into the game industry. From the start our hearts and minds were focused 100% on this project, but as time pressed on, funding didn't appear, and we were forced to abandon active development.

Q: Is this the last we'll hear of STATIC?
We certainly hope not. Months and months of work has been put into this endeavor, and many of you have expressed how much you enjoy it and would love to see it completed. Perhaps in the future we will have the opportunity to find out what really happened down in that basement, and just what ELSE can the BioBuddy really do? What exists on the topside, and is Commander Flak really all that bad? Someday the story will be told.

Q: If you find an interested publisher, will you resume development on STATIC?
There are still some who have expressed interest in the project, but only in passing. The entire team is still ready and excited to work on it. If we find funding, it will be a joyous day for STATIC. We are itching to complete what was started.
Well, nothing new but great to hear from the guys again..

The forums will be down after I come from work tomorrow. I'm going to fiddle with it a little, some maintenance. Hopefully it'll be up within the day.

And I also wanted to say that I recently had a HDD that crashed, so I'm been somewhat delayed on the posting of new files. Sorry for the delay (to all you that sent in those files), I'll hopefully have time to do this tomorrow since I intend to do some maintenance on NMA tomorrow.

    FO3 rumours by Odin - 23:08 - Comment Me (2) - News Source: Glowbewohner
Glowbewohner of notified me about an article about Fallout 3 on a german site called Games Agent, they actually say that Fallout 3 will be called Fallout Online (*gasp*). Thanks to Glowbewohner's help, here's some of the article:
Fallout 3 is also played in the atomic wasted North America. Probably at the same time like Fallout 2, also over hundret Years after the end of the 3th Worldwar. Fallout3 handle on the Reallity, because this fear were present on the 50s. The happenes of war will be have a big aspect on Fallout 3. The accordantly Surrounding will be radioactive deserts , vanished Towns, dry Mountains, shanty Houses, underground cavesystems and similar surroundings. The whole sceneries, Cities, Areas, will be bigger and more extensive. Also, there are not only degenerartet and rusty buildings, The people of the Fallout 3 world will be try to build something new. This should be viewed from the extensive view form the first Fallout parts, only with a new 3D-Engine.

In Fallout 3 you can change to the old known Turn-based and Real-time fights. The RTS will have features like the ones in Baldurs Gate's Pause function, how we can stop the Game and give new commands.
Sounds like a good rumour, best I've heard in a while actually.

TeamX demo mod in English by drw - 20:21 - Comment Me (0) - News Source: TeamX
I've just received an email from Communist in which he informed me that TeamX is ready with the long-awaited English demo version of their Arroyo-Klamath mod for Fallout 2. Moreover, the mod's version number is 1.01, which means all the bugs reported by the Russian fallout fans have been fixed. So grab this link (3.67Mb ZIP) and check out yourself!

Update: I'll post this demo on NMA later today (Odin)

    Some info:
This demo version is a fully working and well tested part of a much larger Arroyo-Klamath MOD. In the demo version we have included several people, quests, items etc. We hope the result is sophisticated and of quality. Also, we hope that Fallout fans will take some time to play and enjoy this demo version.

    Changes summary:

  • Temple of Trials quest has been significantly changed - from Klint and Cameron; to doors and traps! Now enemies are much stronger. Sex and other characteristics now affect how you pass the Trial and the other quests. Inside the Temple you can find 7 new items. The end of the Temple is now different from the original.

  • 4 Arroyo characters (Hakunin, Lucas, Warriors and Villagers) are fully modified. You will have to choose between two quests "become a shaman apprentice" and "became an apprentice warrior". Both quests are difficult, with a time limit, and require travelling to Klamath. Hakunin and Lucas now can teach the player character on improving weapon skills etc. Quests completion and character behavior significantly depends on gender and intelligence. You can find 10 new items in Arroyo, some of them becoming available only after completion of some quests.
